This paper analyzes the basic circuit structure, the operational mechanism and the state of a magnetic-saturated controllable reactor. Based on this, the operational characteristics, which mainly contains controllable characteristics and harmonic characteristic, are theoretically analyzed in details. Then, the nonlinear function relationship between the output currents and the firing angle of the GTO connected with the controllable winding of the controllable reactor is obtained. By the detail simulation for a small-capacity industry model machine, this paper obtains the more detail operational characteristics on the response and harmonic characteristics to the saturated degree. The simulation results are consistent with the theoretical analysis, which verifies the correctness and accuracy of the established simulation model, and further represents that this kind of controllable reactor has a well operational characteristics, that is, its controllable performance is good and the distortion factor of its output currents is low. The research results of this paper have a certain theoretical and practical meanings for the engineering design and operational analysis of the magnetic-saturated controllable reactor.
